Saturday Night as the Homecoming game unfolded in a victorious Homecoming occasion and fans of the University of Alabama were smoking their celebratory cigars, members of the Chattanooga Chapter of the National University of Alabama Alumni Association joys and cheers were quickly silenced with the news of the passing of a giant and dear friend. Terry Nida quietly passed peacefully at home with his loving wife Diedre by his side. Terry has been a pillar in our organization for more than twenty five years even serving as President on several different occasions. Terry Nida was truly a fan of the University of Alabama as well as our organization; he worked tirelessly to ensure that local students were afforded the opportunity to attend the University of Alabama. His goals were accomplished by working with the University and ensuring that the Scholarships in our organization were appropriately funded. Terry spent countless hours attending functions and preparing fundraisers and also by providing merchandise at our organizations functions and events. Terry was even recognized as the Number One Fan of the University of Alabama in the Chattanooga area.

Terry will be truly missed by his friends and family as he was a fine example of a true leader and stellar performer in our group. A memorial service for Terry will be held on Wednesday at Noon at the Hixson First Baptist Church 5800 Grubb Rd. Hixson, Tennessee 37341. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donation be made to the Church in honor of Terry Nida.

I offer my sincere condolences to our organization and my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. As Terry would say Roll Tide Y’all!
